A fisherman finds a corpse in a river, and he turns out to have been the victim of murder. The dead man is John Harmon, a millionaire’s son who was just about to inherit his father’s fortune. The investigation abounds with mysterious events, and a stranger suddenly appears – might he be the killer? About 50% of the film's second half is lost.
